Courtney Khail | Southern Watercolor Artist (photo by Elle Golden)

Hi, I'm Courtney.

I'm a Southern contemporary artist currently living in Athens, Georgia with my husband and our rescue mutt. Here you'll find a peek into what inspires me, new pieces I'm working on, and a whole lot of random thoughts. (Oh! And for those curious, my last name is pronounced “kale”.)

I wish you could see this one in person- the depth and details and layers are just remarkable. Framed in a gorgeous natural, maple frame, “Fruit Snack” is the featured painting for Day 6 of my 12 Days of Christmas Sale!

Seriously, it&rsq
This is one of my absolute favorites so I’m kind of surprised I’m letting it go! Created in part by melting “paint popsicles”, Day 5 of my 12 Days of Christmas Sale is: Balloon Animals!

Part of my Sugar & Vice Collection-
I see you swooning over there about my full color floral pieces! (I get it. They’re beautiful!) Well no more standing on the sidelines because today is your day to get one of those stunning pieces up on your wall.

Day 4 of my 12 Days of Christ
FRAMED original art for less than $400? Yep! All thanks to Day 3 of your favorite 12 Days of Christmas Sale. (Basically like the greatest advent calendar there is without any pieces of disappointing chalky candy.)

Recognizing the beauty- thoughts on our housewarming party

April 15, 2013 in Celebrations, From the Studio

With the horrible tragedy in Boston, I was originally going to postpone this post. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that we all might need this. At least I need this. Because when the world looks so ugly and dangerous, sometimes we need to remember the beauty in our lives. I'll be praying for everyone in Boston. I hope you all can find your beauty again very soon.

This past weekend, J and I finally hosted our housewarming party! Without getting too too sappy, it was really amazing seeing new and old friends fill our home and backyard. It's crazy how many people we've met and become friends with in less than a year and now I don't think we could ever imagine our lives without them in it.

Something else amazing? We have a permanent home. While I've loved the other places we've lived, they were never really ours since we were renting. But these walls- in all of their concrete glory- are ours and that's such a cool feeling.

*It was also our friend's (who happens to be one of our amazing neighbors) birthday so I tried my hand at high altitude baking. A little more difficult than I expected, but overall a success (and now I want more cake.)
